An Urban Nature Escape in Progress
Not yet open to the public, Prairie's Edge is currently being rewilded, restored, and renovated into a premier nature center and preserve on Rockford's east-side. The process is occurring in phases and segmentations, and does not yet have a public opening date. However, occasional events are held at Prairie's Edge to expand restoration efforts and deepen our commitment to nature education and science literacy.
Restoration & Rewilding
Prairie's Edge sits on a former golf course. The process of turning 169 acres of turf grass into a busy prairie full of native plants and wildflowers is a multi-year endeavor. Once complete, the property will feature prairie, a creek, and a savanna. This rewilding process will invite native wildlife back by reintroducing vital biodiversity habitat.
Funding the Future
Thanks to you, the former Elliot Golf Course is becoming something extraordinary. Financial gifts help turn acres into a living legacy for the land, for wildlife, for nature education, and for future generations.
