Summer Camp Assistant

The Summer Camp Assistant works with the Day Camp programs.  Summer Camp Assistants work with the Education Specialist on planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in daily activities and explorations.   You are the spirit of the summer camp experience! Your fellow Summer Camp Assistants will rely on you, children will look up to you and parents will trust you. Your fresh energy, ideas, consistent supervision, patience and commitment to the camp community will make this summer one of our best.

Americorps Opportunities

Severson Dells is excited to partner with the Boone County Conservation District, Dekalb County Forest Preserves and the Natural Land Institute to offer opportunities for AmeriCorps volunteers to engage in environmental education, habitat restoration and community science.

Opportunities at Severson Dells

Environmental Education Members

Environmental Education Members will help with school and public education programs at Severson Dells Nature Center and at some off-site locations in Winnebago County. Members will be provided training on local ecosystems, native flora and fauna as well as best practices in environmental education and group management.

Now taking applications for a Fall 2024 start date (1700 hour position).

Natural Resource Members

Natural Resource Members will have the opportunity to help with habitat restoration, seed collection and other natural resource tasks. Members have the option to serve with the Natural Land Institute, Boone County Conservation District or Dekalb County Forest Preserves.
