Our ever-popular Wildflower Walkabouts, offered in conjunction with the Natural Land Institute, showcase what is currently in bloom at various woodland and grassland preserves around Winnebago and Boone Counties. Led by local wildflower experts, these are a wonderful opportunity to learn our local flora with other like-minded enthusiasts.
Mark Keister and Richard Benning will take us on a tour of the Pecatonica Wetlands Forest Preserve, which includes river edge floodplain forest, oxbow pond marshes and upland forest along the Pecatonica River. The site has outstanding spring flora and bird life. Please meet at 4550 North Pecatonica Road, Pecatonica. Hiking will be easy to moderate.
