School is out and the Frogs are Celebrating - At Pecatonica River Forest Preserve

Thursday, June 2, 6:30 p.m.

Meet at Pecatonica River Forest Preserve shelterhouse.  Severson Dells staff will present a brief introduction about the different species of frogs and toads found in northern IL.  We’ll listen to their calls and explain the importance of their populations in natural communities.  Depending on the weather, we’ll walk to the oxbow lake (easy 1 mile walk there and back), listen for any frogs or toads heard or anything else screaming, “schools out for the summer.”  We’ll then carpool to Pecatonica Wetlands and other properties of the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County and give a listen there too.  Ages 8 and older.  Free!  Registration required.  815-335-2915.
