Become a citizen scientist by learning to use this cool nature app to help monitor butterflies, odonates, and other wild life in the forest preserves. Ann Wasser, Director at Severson Dells Nature Center will get you excited and equipped to use iNaturalist by starting with the basics–how to contribute data, how to mine data, and how to help in identifications. iNaturalist is a community of citizen scientists recording field observations, observers can record any species that they find and add it to the iNaturalist database. iNaturalist is a powerful learning tool and the community can help you identify an observation you are unsure of or you can share your expertise by helping to identify unknown observations. iNaturalist is one of the many citizen science tools that will add to the growing datasets that the Forest Preserve staff use to manage the preserve natural resources effectively. We will show you how to use iNaturalist from your computer or smart phone (please bring your smart phone with you, if you have one). Pre-register for this free session at winnebagoforest.org no later Thursday, February 29th. FREE!
