Brown Rat

STATUS: Invasive, “Least Concern”

DESCRIPTION: It can grow up to 11 inches long and weigh 4.9 to 17.6 oz. Fur is usually dark grey or brown.

DIET: True omnivore, will eat almost everything, prefers cereals.

HABITAT: Though originally from Northern China, they are found everywhere except Antarctica. They tend to live wherever humans live, especially in urban areas.

NOTES: It has been domesticated to be a pet and lab rat, making it a model organism for biological research.
