Bonaparte's Gull (Chroicocephalus philadelphia)

STATUS: Native, Migratory, Least Concern

DESCRIPTION: Bonaparte’s Gulls have a wingspan of 29.9-31.5 in. and weigh 6.3-7.9 oz.

HABITAT: Bonaparte’s Gulls live in bays, lakes, marshes, and rivers.

DIET: Their diet consists of insects, fish, crustaceans, and other invertebrates.

NOTES: They are the only gull that is known to regularly nest in trees. Their call is a graty “keh-keh-keh.” They are protected on the US Migratory Bird list.
